A Delicious Burrito Recipe
Of course, you can make a beef burrito with some ground beef, and of course, this will be done in no time but it tastes so much better when you slow cook your beef.
This is a great recipe to make on the weekend and you have some time to let the oven or slow cooker do the work.
All the seasoning will infuse the beef and will be soft and moist once you shred it.
It may seem like a very hands-on recipe but it is not. Once the beef is put together all the hard work is done for you.

Beef Burritos Ingredients
These beef burritos consist of soft beef on the one hand and some delicious Mexican rice on the other hand.
You can also make this recipe with long grain rice.
For the beef you need the following ingredients:
- Quality beef
- Orange juice
- Lemon juice
- Paprika powder
- Garlic powder
- Oregano
- Basil
- Cumin
- Olive oil
- Onion
- Garlic
- Tomato sauce
- Stock cube
- Water
- Shredded cheese (optional)
How To Make Beef Burritos With Mexican Rice
Preheat your oven at 475℉. Start by browning the beef in olive oil. This will take about 5 minutes. Take the beef out of the pan and set it aside.
Add the onion and garlic to the pan and let it go soft and translucent. Add more olive oil if the pan is dry.
When the onion is soft add the orange juice and lemon juice. Add the stock cube before you add the tomato sauce and bring it to a boil.
Add the paprika powder, garlic powder, oregano, basil, and cumin to the pan and stir. Return the beef into the pan and cover with sauce.
Add about half a cup of water until the meat is almost covered. Cover the lid and put the pan in the oven for at least 2,5 hours.
With the lid on the meat will go soft. During the cooking process add water when needed.
Usually, this will be at the 1-hour and 2-hour mark. This recipe benefits from long cooking times so the longer you have the better.
During the cooking time make some Mexican rice, or long-grain white rice and warm the chili beans. When the meat is done, shred in a bowl and start assembling the burrito.
Create A Beef Burrito
Start with a big tortilla the biggest size available. Then add a couple of tablespoons of Mexican rice, then some shredded beef, chili beans, and a handful of cheese.
Top with some of the rich meat sauce. Fold the burrito and you are ready to serve.
Can I Make Beef Burritos Using A Slow Cooker?
Yes, this recipe is great to make in your Crock-Pot slow cooker, Crockpot Express, or Instant Pot. You can make it using the slow cooker options or when you want fast use the pressure cooker
Slow Cooker
If you want to make it using the slow cooker follow the recipe but use the following setting:
- LOW – for 4 hours
- HIGH – for 2 hours
Pressure Cooker
If you want to make this recipe using the pressure cooker, follow the recipe but use the following setting:
Close the lid and secure and select either Manual or Pressure cooker. Set the timer and cook on high for 45 minutes.
Once the cooking time is done you can quick release and continue with assembling the burrito
How To Store Beef Burritos With Mexican Rice
This is a great recipe for meal prep because you can make the shredded beef and the Mexican rice a day ahead.
There are a number of ways to store beef burritos:
- Refrigerator – The flavors will be more intense if you store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator
- Freezer – you can also store the burritos in the freezer. Wrap them in aluminum foil and put them in the freezer for about a month
How To Reheat Beef Burritos
If you made a big batch or have leftover burritos you have several options to reheat them:
- Oven – you can reheat a burrito in your oven. Preheat the oven to 375℉ and wrap your burritos in tin foil that way your burritos stay soft on the outside. Reheat the burritos for 10 -15 or until heated through. If you want crispy burritos, remove the foil for the last 3 to 4 minutes
- Skillet – when you want to reheat burritos in a cast-iron skillet preheat the skillet to medium. Put the leftover burritos in the skillet and close the skillet with a lid. Heat for 3-4 minutes, then turn the burritos and heat the other side for 2-3 minutes. Again close the lid so the burrito can warm through
- Instant Pot – if you want to heat burritos in an Instant Pot add 1 cup of water in the inner bowl. Then add a trivet and put your tin foil-wrapped burritos on the trivet. Close the Instant Pot and secure the lid. Select Manual or Pressure cook for 2 minutes and quick release when done
- Air Fryer – you can also reheat frozen burritos in an Air Fryer. If you want soft burritos wrap them in aluminum foil and put them in the Air Fryer basket. Heat your Air Fryer to 350℉ and heat for 12 minutes or until warmth through
- Microwave – Put the burrito in the microwave using a microwave baking dish. Reheat the burritos on high for one minute. Then leave the burrito in the microwave for half a minute so the heat can continue to distribute through the burrito. Repeat (heat for 1 minute and rest for half a minute) until the internal temperature is 165℉. This can take several times depending on the size and thickness of the burrito
- Barbecue – if have the barbecue out you can also use it to reheat your burritos. Wrap the burritos in tin foil and let them warm preferably on a cooler zone of the barbecue (no direct heat). When the burritos are warm and have an internal temperature of 165℉ remove the foil and put them over high heat to get some grill marks on the burritos

Ingredients
- 4 large tortillas
- 1 pound of quality beef
- 1 cup of orange juice
- 1 tsp of lemon juice
- 1 tsp of paprika powder
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Oregano
- 1 tsp Basil
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 3 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 onion
- 3 minced garlic
- 1 cup of tomato sauce
- Stock cube
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Mexican rice
- Chili beans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven at 475F/225C
- Browning the beef on both sides in olive oil. This will take about 5 minutes then set aside
- Add the onion and garlic to the pan until soft and translucent. Add more olive oil if the pan is dry
- Add orange juice and lemon juice and whisk before you add the stock cube and the tomato sauce. Bring to the boil
- Add the seasoning paprika powder, garlic powder, oregano, basil and cumin, and stir
- Return the beef into the pan and cover with sauce. Add about half a cup of water until the meat is almost covered
- Cover the lid and put the pan in the oven for at least 2,5 hours
- Prepare the Mexican rice and warm the chili beans during the last half hour of cooking time
- Take a large tortilla and add a couple of tablespoons of Mexican rice, then some shredded beef, chili beans and a handful of cheese. Top with meat sauce
- Fold the burrito and serve
