How To Make Instant Pot Beef Burritos

To make this recipe start with the Instant Pot and set it to Saute.

Add the ground beef when the pan is hot and break up the meat with a wooden spoon.

Dice the onion, bell pepper, and mince the garlic. Add to the Instant Pot and stir to soften.

Add salt and pepper. Cook the ground beef until it has browned. Now add the burrito seasoning and stir again before adding ¼ cup of beef broth.

Use the wooden spoon to release any bits that are stuck to the bottom of the inner pan.

Then add the tomatoes and break them up. Add the beans and stir to combine.

Add the rice on top of the mixture but don’t stir to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Now pour the remaining on the rice.

Set the pressure cooker to Manual or Pressure Cook to HIGH for 10 minutes.

Close the lid and secure and set the cooking time to 10 minutes. Natural release for 10 minutes then releases the remaining pressure using the quick release.

Remove the lid and fluff the rice using a fork. Be careful not to scratch the bottom of the pan

Take a cast-iron skillet and heat to medium-hot. Add a tortilla and heat for 1 minute, flip and heat the other side as well.

Scoop a couple of tablespoons with a beef burrito and wrap the burrito. Repeat and serve immediately.

Why Do I Get A Burn Notice When I Cook Beef Burritos?

When you combine rice, ground beef, beans, and water you need enough liquid to cook the rice and to get the Instant Pot to pressure.

However, when the Instant Pot gets to pressure it is really easy for rice or beef to get stuck on the bottom of the Instant Pot inner pot.

This results in a burn notice.

I have both a Crock-Pot Express and an Instant Pot. The Instant Pot has more problems with the burn notice than the Crock-Pot Express.

I use a nonstick inner pot for the Instant Pot but it is different than the nonstick pot of the Crockpot Express.

How To Resolve A Burn Notice When Cooking In An Instant Pot?

When I cook e.g. beef burritos and I get a burn notice I add a little bit more water about 1/4 cup.

I use a wooden spoon I try to release any rice or beef that got stuck on the bottom of the inner pot.

Then I close the Instant Pot again and set it to the original settings of the recipe.

Usually, the issue is resolved and the pan comes to pressure.
