I love to serve my burritos with homemade tortillas but I totally get it when you use store-bought big tortillas instead.
Just give them a try and you will love them for certain.
Sloppy Joe Burrito Ingredients
To make this recipe you need only a handful of ingredients.
So put the following items on your grocery shopping list and have them ready when you start:
- Ground beef
- Tomato sauce
- Ketchup
- Sloppy Joe seasoning
- Big tortillas
- Cooked basmati rice
- Green beans
- Salt and pepper to taste
How To Make Sloppy Joe Burritos
Start this recipe with prepare the onion and bell pepper. Finely dice both and set them aside.
Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Now add the ground beef into the pan.
Breakdown the meat with a wooden spoon until the meat turns from pink to brown.
Add the bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Stir the beef mix continuously for about 5 minutes until the onion and bell pepper are soft and translucent.
Now add the sloppy Joe seasoning and stir it through. Then add the tomato sauce and apple cider vinegar while stirring to mix.
Bring the sloppy Joe mixture to a low simmer and cook for 20 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
You can also prepare sloppy Joe meat in your Instant Pot which is done even faster.
While your meat mixture is simmering. Cook the basmati rice in your rice cooker or Instant Pot, Air Fryer or oven.
Clean the green beans and boil them for 10 minutes until done.
Now take a big tortilla and add rice and beans in the middle from top to bottom.
Finish it with sloppy Joe meat on top of the rice and beans. Leave at least 2 inches from the side and fold the tortilla in a burrito.
Repeat for the remaining tortillas and you are ready to serve.

- Refrigerator – you can store the burritos in the refrigerator. Make certain the ingredients cooled completely before you put them in a food container. You can keep them for up to 3 days
- Freezer – want to keep them longer you can store them in the freezer. Burritos are perfect freezer meals. Store multiple burritos in a leak-free food container or wrap them individually in aluminum foil and take them out of the freezer when you want to serve them. You can keep them in the freezer for up to 3 months
How To Reheat Burritos?
When you want to reheat frozen burritos let them thaw in the fridge before reheating.
You can reheat a burrito in several ways:
- Oven – you can reheat a burrito in the oven. Preheat to 350℉ then put the burritos wrapped in aluminum foil in the oven. Heat for 10 minutes or until warm. You can check the internal temperature of a burrito with a food thermometer. It should be at least 165℉. You want to keep the burrito wrapped in foil to prevent the tortilla from going brown and crispy.
- Air Fryer – an Air Fryer is a great way to reheat your burritos. Preheat the Air Fryer to 350℉ for 3 minutes and load it with your burritos wrapped in aluminum foil. Now heat for 7 minutes or until warm.
- Cast Iron skillet – you can also warm a burrito in a cast-iron skillet. It will turn out more chimichangas as the tortilla will brown on the outside. Preheat the skillet to medium. You can cover the skillet with a lid to keep the warmth and moisture inside the skillet. Turn regularly until warm. This can take 10 minutes

How To Make Sloppy Joe Burritos
You can turn sloppy joe meat in delicious sloppy Joe burritos. Just follow along and you have these amazing burritos on the table in no time.
Ingredients
- 4 big flour tortillas
- ¾ lb lean ground beef
- ¾ cup tomato sauce or ketchup
- 2 cups basmati rice cooked
- 2 cups Green beans
- 1 onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Sloppy Joe seasoning
Instructions
- Finely dice the onion and bell pepper and set aside
- Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef into the pan and breakdown the meat with a wooden spoon until the meat turns brown
- Add the bell pepper and onion to the skillet. Stir the beef mix continuously for about 5 minutes until the onion and bell pepper are soft and translucent
